Cancer Care Fast Fact

In Ontario, one person is diagnosed with cancer every eight minutes

Over the next 10 years, Ontario will see a 40 per cent increase in the number
of people living with cancer; as of 2017, more than 400,000 Ontarians will be
living with cancer diagnosed within the past 10 years
The London Regional Cancer Program is a leader in cancer care,
education and research. From prevention and early diagnosis, to treatment and
supportive care, LRCP serves more than one million people in southwestern
Ontario. The site at Victoria Hospital serves as a hub for a network of
community and regional partners, working to provide care for patients as close
to home as possible.
Grouped into disease-site-specific teams consisting of surgeons,
medical oncologists, radiation oncologists, advance practice nurses,
dietitians, social workers and therapists, hospital staff work together to care
for the needs of patients and their families.
LRCP has robust and active research programs, ranging from the
fundamentals of cancer biology to clinical trials, including advanced
image-guided radiotherapy and molecular imaging.
