Donors for Tomorrow Luncheons
October 2009
This year's Donors for Tomorrow luncheon was held at the
Lamplighter Inn, where guests were treated to an informative talk by one of the
world's leading pharmacologists, Dr. Richard Kim, Chair/Chief of London Health
Sciences Centre's (LHSC) Division of Clinical Pharmacology and Director of the
Centre for Clinical Investigation and Therapeutics (CCIT).
Dr. Kim spoke about his ground-breaking work in the area of
personalized medicine, a research endeavour focused on developing customized
drug therapies for patients based on their genetic code. Guests also enjoyed a
video featuring one of Dr. Kim's first patients, Elizabeth Stone, in the new
anti-coagulation clinic at University Hospital. The clinic is a prime example
of how personalized medicine research is used to enhance patient care. We were
honored to have Mrs. Stone in attendance at the luncheon as well.
Following Dr. Kim's presentation, guests who had confirmed LHSC
in their estate plans were thanked with a leatherette box acknowledging their
foresight and commitment to future generations through legacy giving.
