Your family comes first... London Health
Sciences Foundation (LHSF) believes that a donor's interest and their family's interests must come first when a planned gift is arranged. A gift from your estate to LHSF will result in tax relief to your estate, leaving more residue for your other interests and family.

Your Will can reflect your commitment to LHSF. The following four sample wording options for structuring a bequest through your Will should help you establish a legacy that best suits your needs and wishes. It is important that this language be reviewed by the legal advisor drafting your Will.

1. I direct my Executors to give ______% of the residue of my Estate to London Health Sciences Foundation for the benefit of London Health Sciences Centre for use where it is needed most as determined in the absolute discretion of the Directors of London Health
   Sciences Foundation.
   
2. I direct my Executors to give to London Health
   Sciences Foundation for the benefit of London Health Sciences Centre the sum of $_____ to be used where it is needed the most as determined in the absolute discretion of the Directors of London Health
   Sciences Foundation.
   
3. I direct my Executors to give to London Health
   Sciences Foundation for the benefit of London Health Sciences Centre the sum of $_____(or_____% of my residue) to be used for the purpose of (examples could include: research, patient care, equipment, teaching, a program at the Hospital, etc.), provided that if such purpose ceases to exist or ceases to be provided by London Health Sciences Centre, then the legacy shall not fail but the Directors of London Health
   Sciences Foundation shall use such legacy for a medical purpose which most closely resembles the purpose set out above.
   
4. I direct my Executors to give to London Health
   Sciences Foundation for the benefit of London Health Sciences Centre _____________ (real estate, securities, etc.) for use where it is needed most as determined in the absolute discretion of the Directors of London Health Sciences Foundation.

Please Note
As our Hospital's needs change significantly from year to year and medical advances impact our future needs, it is appreciated if an "undesignated" gift can be made. If restrictions are placed on your gift, they should be made generally and with some flexibility or an "out" clause, should the need no longer exist at the time of your death (please see option No. 3 as an example of this flexibility). Sadly, examples abound in the United States where funds are tied up for "small pox research" - a need that no longer exists.
