Women's Care Fast Fact
-
In an effort to ensure a smooth transition for Women's Health Services, LHSC
and SJHC are aligned in a thoughtful, change management process that will help
to minimize disruption, and set the stage for all employees to embrace a new
city-wide health care culture that continues to focus on compassion and respect
Women's health care services in London, currently located at four
sites across the city, will be consolidated on levels four and five of the new
10-storey North Tower, a state-of-the-art facility that will be home to the
Grace Donnelly Women's Health Pavilion. For the first time, all services
associated with births and premature infants will be located under one roof.
The new facility will be three times the size of the women's,
neonatal, high-risk pregnancy, and birthing facilities currently serving London
and surrounding areas.
Services at the new site will include:
-
Space for 6,000 births annually
-
16 labour birthing rooms with hydro-massage air bath tubs
-
Four operative birthing rooms
-
Dedicated resuscitation space located between the operative birthing rooms
-
Adjacent neonatal intensive care with 42 beds/bassinettes
-
30 gynaecology beds
-
65 antenatal and post-partum rooms
The close proximity of physicians, nurses and other medical
professionals specializing in women's and children's health will foster
collaboration and synergy, resulting in enhanced patient care.
